Hatha-Raja Yoga
Hatha-Raja
Hatha-Raja is a sequence of moderate postures practiced in a slow and mindful way in conjunction with the sonorous Brahmaree Pranayama (honey bee breath). The intention of this class is to lengthen the breath in the postures with sound and is an opportunity to slow down and connect with that essence within that is always present, the witness consciousness. Pranayama is a powerful way to expand and direct the prana in the nadis drawing one into a natural meditation. The vibration of the Brahmaree optimizes the function of the pineal and pituitary glands, especially the regulation of serotonin, the wellbeing hormone which affects the chemistry of the whole body, elevating the mind to an uplifted and calm state. Hatha Raja is an excellent practise for anyone suffering from stress, depression or insomnia.
Brahmaree also stimulates the chakras in the subtle body and the long extended breath caused by the brahmaree creates profound peacefulness. Hatha-Raj is excellent for anyone wishing to release stress and increase pranic awareness through sound, movement and meditation.
